Another great Solstice Foray & Feast has come & gone & was a great success. The Bergen Hall was a wonderful facility with great camping. Many new bonds were built, mushrooms were found & learned about, and lots of good food topped the weekend off.

Contrary to the forecast, we managed to have 3 forays without getting rained on by anything more than a few light showers Saturday afternoon & Sunday morning.

Friday night we had mini mushroom walks around the grounds & a UV talk at the picnic table by the fire, with some beautiful mushrooms people found walking around the property of Bergen Hall. We enjoyed roasted hot dogs & smores & enjoyed a relaxing evening around the fire.

Saturday morning, our first foray was open to all AMS members at Snakehill Natural Recreation Area for 10am. We had 34 members join Taylor & Lori-Anne as we scouted the area for GAMF. A couple nice flushes of Oysters were the highlight of this foray.

The rain held off most of the foray with a few light scattered showers throughout.

In the afternoon, we moved to Bearberry & Sundre Natural areas, where not a lot was found, but notable prizes were 2 Morels & a Ganoderma applanatum (artist’s conk) that Mich made some beautiful art on.

Saturday evening we had a great feast with a table a mile long, filled with mushroom themed dishes & delicious desserts. We finished the night off with a lovely hang around the fire until the rain finally chased people inside.

Sunday kicked us off with the kids making Father’s Day breakfast (and what a great job they did!) to warm us up for another round of forays.

About 15 of us embarked to the Bentz Lakes Natural Area, where parking was limited, but this site showed amazing potential for future small forays. Many great trees including Poplars, black & white Spruce.
