What a lovely time we had at Weald! While it drizzled a little, the daytime weather stayed warm. The nights were a different story, though—I woke up each morning to a thick layer of frost on my tent!

That aside, the weekend was fantastic. We had a tremendous group venture out for the event and were rewarded with a great variety of wild edibles, including a few absolute MONSTER specimens. I fried up a sampling for everyone to try, which was a huge hit—especially for our new members who had never tasted wild mushrooms before! Everyone enjoyed Hawk Wings, Giant White Hedgehogs, Yellow-footed Chanterelles, Leccinum, and Smoky Waxy Gills (and a brave few of us tried the Russulas).

The forest was like a fairytale land. Recent rain made the moss extraordinarily thick, lush, and green. While most finished up after the two-hour foray, I stayed behind for a couple more hours to soak in the quiet serenity.

If you missed out this year, keep an eye on our website next spring! We’ll post the event details right after the AGM, and tickets sell out fast.
