Today was my first foray with AMS at 3 Mile Bend off-leash dog park in Red Deer.

It was a rainy day, but people came from far & wide. 28 people in total, from as close as Sylvan & Pine Lake to Edmonton & Calgary, with some very special guests from the North Texas Myco Society! And one good dog, Jim.

We found a good variety of mushrooms! Including a variety of Agaricus, many Inocybe & Pseudosperma, a few different Mycenas including some bleeding ones & some lovely red capped yellow stemmed Mycenas. Lactarius deliciosus, along with a couple other Lactarius, Coprinus comatus, Fomitopsis (Rhodofomes) cajanderi, Marasmius oreades, Clavatia, a variety of Coprinellus species (mostly section micaceus), Candolleomyces, some Tricholomas, one Stropharia kauffmanii, Panaeolus, Leccinums, Russulas, Corals (Ramaria & maybe Phaeoclavulina), some Resupinatus & a massive Polyporus umbellatus were also found today. Oh & some last minute Trametes suaveolens & a Chlorophyllum rhacodes on our way out. I (Lori) found the P. umbrellatus (in the same spot I found them last year) & it was large enough to easily share a good chunk with everyone who wanted to try some (I’m pretty sure everyone was able to take some!).

The rain persisted, but didn’t stop us.

Approximate start time 10am. Back to the shelter by 12pm. The last of us left the park around 1pm.
