14 members enjoyed a casual stroll down a quad trail in Isle Lake Natural Area. We found many old russulas, some LBMs (Little Brown Mushrooms), puffballs, various polypores, chaga, rotten birch boletes, etc. Nothing too exciting, and I was beginning to feel like it would be a bust for decent edibles. Then, out of nowhere, a member holds up a green lobster (Hypomyces luteovirens), in perfect condition! We all considered it a win, and departed back to our vehicles. Shortly after exiting the forest, the same member walked toward us triumphantly holding a perfect Hericium specimen (Hericium coralloides)! Some people have all the luck….and we’re happy for them, right?! Of course we are ;) Congratulations on the finds!
