What: NW of the City of Calgary approximately 20 km from the Burnt Timber Gas Plant

Attendance: 25 people

Mushroom Species Found:

The 25 people separated into 2 groups. Barb led one group into the woods on the south side of Township Road 304 and Christine led the group into the woods on the north side. The north side proved to be more bountiful with quite a few edible mushrooms found.

Amanita muscaria var. guesspwii, Artomyces pyxidatus, Cerioporus leptocephalus, many Cortinarius species, Fomitopsis mounceae, Ganoderma applanatum, Gloeophyllum sepiarium, Gomphidius glutinosus, Hericium coralloides, Hydnellum caeruleum, Hydnum repandum, Laccaria species, Lactarius deliciosus group, Leccinum boreale, Leucopaxillus giganteus, Lepista nuda, Lycoperdon species, Mycena species, Phellinus tremulae, Pholiota squarrosa, Peziza species, Ramaria species (stricta?), Russula brevipes, Russula emetica, Russula foetens, other Russula species, Russula xerampelina, Suillus brevipes, Trichaptum species, Tricholoma equestre.

Terrain: Mixed aspen conifer woodland. Lowers to a mossy valley on the north side.

Weather Conditions: Sunny with cloudy periods; temperature around 16’C.

Additional Comments: After an extended dry, hot spell, the area finally received much needed rainfall within the week prior to the foray.
